My urban sketching practice has taken a turn to more reportage drawing. The No Kings rally and march this afternoon in Louisville, Ky. Very impressive attendance and well-organized with a clear message to march forward for many causes, don’t be drawn into conflict and be helpers.

It was a wet and chilly Derby day in Louisville, KY but I wasn’t at Churchill Downs wearing hat. Instead, I sat warm and dry sketching at Logan Street Mkt, sipping adult beverages with the Hubs.

Caught my last flight for return to Louisville; Midway, with the most expensive glass of wine I ever ordered at Harry Carry’s. Oh, well.

Mid-journey stop yesterday at Nashville International. 5 hr wait between flights meant time for the second sketch and a big salad for lunch.

First stop Nashville on my way back to Louisville. Going thru Chicago. Quite a while in between flights leaves a lot of time for sketching.

I’d hoped to do more sketching this wk but getting the OPs settled in assisted living is a JOB! Exhausted but lucky to have them in a lovely place with great staff. Heavy sigh of relief!

Busy day to fly The two kiddos who observed me draw & I compared travel plans. They definitely have an easier day, Chicago to Florida/Disney World, no stops, while I’m Louisville to G’ville, SC w/ 2 plane changes. But I’ve gotten to chat w/ lots of people, pet a puppy, & eat a chocolate muffin

Nothing beats Sunday dinner with family, eapecially when the Hubs is cooking.

This week my heart was warmed at The Table, a non-profit, social entrepreneurship restaurant in Louisville, KY’s Portland neighborhood. They build community, serving locally grown food at affordable prices, operating under a pay-what-can model. The place was packed & my lunch delicious.

Someone on another platform commented on my inclusion of a “man-bun” in my previous post & how it reflected the liberal demographic of the restaurant clientel & the area followed by a laugh emoji. Wasn’t sure if the comment was a poke or a nod. But the patron did have a man-bun but yes, I’m a lib.

Two quick sketches this week that I made in my very small sketchbook with dry media while taking Minnie on a walk. Normally I listen to podcast during our walks but realized being well-informed doesn’t always align with the menta health benefits of dog walking. Sketching does. #urbansketchers

While it might looks at times as if people are going about their daily lives as nothing has happened, many are organizing , showing up, speaking up and signing up. Today I sketched in a community center, full house. Some in wheelchairs and on crutches.

This morning I attended a Town Hall held by Congresman Morgan McGarvey of Louisville, KY. State Rep Gerald Neal and L’ville Metro 4th Dis Councilman Ken Herndon were also in attendance. McGarvey and Neal listened and responded to constituents concerned mass firings of public servants and more.

Oh, yum! We had Saturday lunch at Red Hog - it’s a restaurant and a butcher and they offer a sausage making class! I had a grilled cheese sandwich and a glass of red. Located on Frankfort Ave in Louisville, KY.

Dinner with the Hubs last night at Louisville’s Uptown Cafe, a long time favorite of mine. This is the table next to our’s, and yes, I did eavesdrop on their convo ranging from their opinions of the SNL 50th anniversary show to Pres Musk I Mean Trump’s impact on media.
