New Year, New Art! LooksLikeRain is following through with some new years resolutions and "LooksLikeNew"!

Happy new year! Hope this year is better than the last! I hope to be more on the ball this year with updates, so look forward to game updates, screenshots, and more!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! I hope everyone’s day has been filled with love and belonging and a piece of calm amongst this turbulent year. The devs and artists working on Aeswar will be taking some time off, but stay tuned for next year! More lore! More game dev updates! Super excited!

Game dev update! Fixed an animation bug that played animations at the wrong position, they should now be working as intended in the main game.

I like starting from the meat of the game first, so the main mechanics and moments like bosses, battles, puzzles, etc. if you have those elements down, the story can just shape how we get to those moments.

Update! I’m currently getting in a vast array of equipment and skills into combat so my wonderful testers can tell me what feels good and what needs improving. Also, boss design! Yay! #gamedev #devlog

Game progress! This music freaking slaps!

Game Progress! I’m doing some boss logic! I love a good twist to a boss, some of my favorites growing up have been the Mantis Lords, the legendary birds from Mystery Dungeon, the bosses of Dragon Quest 9. Really most bosses that have story weight and are fun to fight.

You know, next time they should spring us forward 3 hours. Just to keep us on our toes.

Shoutout to all the amazing QA testers out there making sure our favorite games are fun and fair! Also, appreciate the first playtester I had play my vertical slice immediately decided to mod mustaches on all the characters. She’s a legend.

I have the goal today of layering animations over the character stills in my game, right now the sprites that have skill animations are layered below (a part of the engine if I were to do side view) with my menus on top, so it’s time to do some fixes!

We back at it folks! It's time for more menu adjusting! I want to focus on the menus since they are part of the main gameplay loop where players spend time deciding on things like item usage and equipment. Like good cinematography, it's best when it's unnoticed but feels good. #gamedev

Tip! When writing, it’s easy to lose steam because you don’t know where the story is going. Make an outline, write, then if while writing you feel the story is going elsewhere, rewrite the outline to reflect this! Outlines are flexible.
