When you are lost in the darkness look for the light.

The world would be a better place if people could come to grips with the idea that multiple things can be true at the same time.

The thing about the ai 'bubble' is that would cause a 'pop' at this point isn't going to have anything to do with financials (which everyone knows) and everything to do with Anthropic not resolving the Mythos thing fast enough.

Did the Zitron Bubble finally pop this week when his overly hyped exclusive turned out to be a nothingburger that everyone already knew?

I did not get enough sleep last night. Between thunderstorms and cat who is neurotic about thunderstorms This of course leads me to being extra spicy on line and that is never good.

computer hardware is so damn expensive. I don't know how the demand for consumer level stuff is high enough to support these prices. RAM, storage I guess competes with rack server stuff... But a 5090 isn't remotely useful for real 'business' loads so who is willing to buy then at these prices?

I hate that SPCX is the first of these companies going public. The worst in practically every way. Fundamentals, business plans, leadership being a fucking nazi. At least OpenAI and Anthropic are real companies and not lies built on lies by the worst asshole out there.

Yes. Yes I am. After 30 years of doing this? I know what I'm doing. And I don't fucking 'vibe code' and I hate that stupid phrase that means a very specific thing. So speak for yourself. Cause its a clearly a skill issue on your part.

I hate when I have to unfollow and mute someone because of an utterly braindead take on AI. I just don't have the energy to read it any more.

People think the Google liability case is going to 'pop the bubble' the day after Anthropic releases Fable... No. It is going to (finally) kill the free versions that were using gimped models. Which is ultimately a good thing. Google should have never defaulted search to a brain dead Gemini

Seriously I would love for these nutjobs to find *any* game engine of any kind that hasn't already been using some amount of agent to develop. It's just such a total lack of understanding of software and how it is done today.

Why am I not surprised the utterly braindead takes on users of Ren'py learning that Ren'py itself co-developed with AI tools? These people want their free tool so they can sell their 'creative' stuff on top of it and not acknowledge the work that goes into it. Fuck em so hard.

As someone who has been doing this.... a long time: Sonnet is "I'm too lazy to write this function. Do it for me Claude" Opus is "I have an actual team of devs I can direct to do work in the backlog" Fable/Mythos is "I have an experienced architect to help me design and build full systems"

Cars being the best Pixar movie when any of Wall-E, Coco, the 1st 3 Toy Storys, the Incredibles, Finding Nemo and Up exist. Is definitely a take.

Should I blow a ton of money on an overpriced 5090 or wait to see what rtx sparks real-life perf is? And then waste just as much money... Spark is more like a 5070? But something about having that 128GB vram and being able to have a cute mini-pc that doesn't heat the house is appealing.

It's amazing how much goodwill Apple can rely on by being Apple when putting Siri AI into everything. Contrast with MS doing exactly the same thing with Copilot.

Is this where Apple loses everyone when they go all in on AI? Or do they get a pass because they aren't MS/OpenAI/Google. (Even though they are using Google)

Short form soc. media like bsky is prone to particular weird kind of internet fight of people who otherwise might broadly agree on a topic. Person A in the middle of a train of thought has a post that's worded slightly weird or with a personal style / shorthand.

Almost years agoGH Copilot debuted. People who knew what we were a looking at universally said: "This is kind impressive but right now it's really just autocomplete" 6months to a year ago, people who knew what we were looking with Claude/Codex/etc were "This isn't just autocomplete. "

High level dev at Apple working on the swift language is blidly anti-LLM... I really hope they have limited input on direction. Or Swift is going to be so prone to vulnerabilities in the next few years that no one should use anything written in it. Which is oh everything on Mac/ios/iPad.

We definitely at a "good developer can do 4x what they did before" in a lot cases. Right now that seems like it means more code is being produced but is there a practical upper limit on "the world has enough code" vs "the automated thing to make code is still getting better"

If all US companies just stopped right now, China is still putting out stuff and isn't going to stop. (He says while trying to be as neutral as possible without a actual judgement on the morals of the CCP relative to the morals of the US and/or US companies)

I hate everything about this timeline. We could have Star Trek post-capitalism, but are going to get cyberpunk techno-fascist-feudalism because people are focused on the tool instead of the people controlling it.

socialism is so dead in america that we are basically printing stories like "We're perhaps approaching post-scarcity, from classic Marxist text The Fragment on Machines, and the primary obstacle to universal happiness is the capitalists who own the machines" and then trying to ban the machines
