Fixed up an Aero City monitor for Arcade Shock in Torrence,CA today. Made this baby shine! New caps, new HOT (Horizontal Output Transistor), reflowed and calibrated. All in a day’s work for The Mechanic™️

Enjoying City of the Wolves on the Sega Lindbergh arcade cabinet. The gameplay’s great! It got a nice mix of classic and modernized mechanics. Really enjoying it. Can’t wait for this one to fully release.

More things done on the hobby to-do list: Retrobright my SNES Bomberman Multitap (aka Super Multitap 2). This cute little guy’s top piece got yellowed quite a bit. After a couple 3 hour sessions of retrobright solution and Cali sunshine, it brightened up nicely! What an adorable device.👌

A local buddy helped me get a cheap R-type III cart for Super Famicon on his recent Japan trip. I’ve always wanted the SNES cart but it’s so expensive now and I never liked the label art. I decided to transplant the PCB inside to a US shell and print out a JPN art styled holo label. Came out dope!

I’ve been wanting to buy Cyberpunk for a while but didn’t want to pay more than $30, on principle for releasing a buggy unoptimized mess. As a dev since the late 90’s, the way the industry has shifted to “we’ll fix it after launch” is embarrassing. Customers should not let devs get away with that.

Playing more multiplayer games with the kids tonight. This time, “dad-bod” Spiderman on the Sega System 32! Not a great beat-em-up in terms of fight gameplay, but it’s got a cool zoom-in and out feature that makes use of the S32’s sprite scaling hardware.

For more dual-cabinet multiplayer games, I’ve had to go on a crimping mission. Built myself a family of 3/4-Player-to-CPS2 adapters to be able to connect a bunch of different arcade boards for multiplayer support (I use the CPS2 Aux/kick harness for passing P3 & P4 controls to the second cab).

I’m always looking to make my Sega Naomi setups more compact. I love the system and the games, but the normal setup has so much gear. Here’s my Naomi motherboard w/ CF card reader for game loads, Sega IO-JNX Atlas-UVC Downscaler stack, & Dreamcast PSU for power. This is the smallest I can make it!

This long weekend the kids and I enjoyed some multiplayer #arcade beat-em-ups. I connected both #sega Astro City cabs to a single game, and ran players 3 and 4 controls to the second cab. Worked out well! These kids are lucky their dad is dope.

I made it here! I’m in the process of migrating over from Xitter, and am already enjoying my time here. The vibe seems chill, less 4chan’y. Seems like more substance, less noise. I mainly post arcade and gaming related stuff, but will throw in some random interests here and there. Enjoying the blue!

Doing more Air Fryer bread science. I made Chocolate chip banana bread. Turned out decent for my first attempt. Super easy to make too. No kneading, no proofing, made like a cake! Just need a couple super ripe bananas (brown). I gotta tweak my fryer time tho

Nintendo DS Lite refresh completed. @handheldlegend order came in with the swiftness so I installed them right away. I’m really happy with how this turned out. No more yellowed screens, buttons and dpad are responsive again. My DS feels new now! 👏

The year was 2006, we were knee deep in dev on The Burning Crusade. A handful of us imported the #Nintendo DS Lite months before it released in NA. We had so much fun with this thing. Intense lunchtime MarioKart DS competitions! Mine still works, tho the LCD is a bit yellowed now

What have I been doing with my free time now? Learned to make Air Fryer Bread! I’ve always wanted to learn, but also using the Air Fryer makes the process quicker. I’ve done over a dozen loaves now, and am starting to try out other bread ideas like Cheese and Chives, or cinnamon.
