Evening visitor.

The camera only caught the end of this encounter but the adult with the white tip to its tail is always the most nervous of the group and the least tolerant of/most aggressive towards the cubs.

I was looking through some of my old photos and found this one of a gannet at @rspbbemptoncliffs.bsky.social Beautiful birds. I could watch them for hours. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Taken through the window 3 years ago, he went on to become a tall, elegant, confident leader with the most beautiful eyes which looked right through you. He visited the garden regularly and used to look through our window. I'm as sure as I can be that he left us in January of this year. I miss him.

Just the two cubs last night although I think I saw three the night before.

Evening visitors.

"Anyone seen my supper?" Great spotted woodpecker chick yesterday evening.

I leave a bowl of fresh water out for the foxes at night. Almost every other video shows one fox or another drinking from it. I'm sure they must appreciate it in this hot weather.

Taken on our sunny evening walk a male woodpecker with supper for the hungry chicks. He went into the nest & popped his head out before going back in again Even though we've had them on our bird feeders I'm always surprised how small they are; roughly the size of a blackbird but slimmer #Springwatch

Our nightly visitors are arriving earlier. This was the view from our kitchen window at ten to eight last night.

The cubs have grown considerably over the past couple of weeks although there is a noticeable difference in size between the smallest and the largest.
