Finally got in a good kayaking session this morning. It was overcast, which I like, and in the mid 60's (Fahrenheit), which I also like. Little bit of breeze, too. Went 4.3 miles in about 1.5 hours. My new kayak glides through the water easier than my other kayaks. #kayaks #kayaking

It's been about six weeks since I had to euthanize my 16-year-old cat, Chexie. I find I still can't talk about her for more than a sentence without getting choked up, but I finally finished her cremation box and her remains are now safely inside. #cats #woodworking #boxes

I had to have my little cat Chexie euthanized on Tuesday. I got to spend 16 wonderful years with her and, in all my time living with cats, I've never been more attached to a cat than I was to her. Still having a rough time keeping my shit together. Pretty sure I'll miss her forever. #cats #catdad

25 years ago, I built this cradle for my daughter right before she was born. All I had was a circular saw, a jigsaw, a drill, and a whole bunch of red oak from a big box store. Today it gets passed on to my niece who is having her first baby next month. ❤️ #woodworking

Finally got around to building some shelves specifically for storing a lot of my veneer (this is only *most* of it). It's not a perfect solution but it's a huge improvement! #woodworking #veneer

Milo went out in the catio to keep a closer eye on the birds, but they flew away (of course). But he still sat there for a good 5 minutes or so in the snow... waiting for their return. I think some of them did return, but by that time, he was all, "This sucks" and came back inside.

I finally completed the standing desk project I've been working on since late August. Big sense of relief. It's almost all maple (except for the veneer substrates). I used Sutherland Welles wiping varnish for the finish. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but I'm glad it's done. #woodworking

Finally got the standing desk project "completed"... fully constructed and assembled. Then I had to disassemble it to apply the finish. Here's the desktop after the first coat of finish... and this is also the reason why finishing is my favorite part of a project. :-) #woodworking

I'm working on a standing desk for my sister-in-law right now. It's all made from hard maple. I'm in the home stretch and yesterday I put together the drawer front with a custom pull. The drawer is housed in (what will be) a floating drawer box. #woodworking
