A song inspired by and written for the people of Ukraine.

Sunflowers
This song, co-written with my friend Jonathan Hicks, was inspired by and written for the people of Ukraine. It first emerged in 2024 during my time performing with the folk group Catgut and Air. It is also a song that strikes close to home genealogically. Were she alive to witness it, my Russian babushka would have been utterly appalled by the aggression shown by the leadership of her motherland.

To my friends experiencing newfound conviction about speaking up against political violence: Excellent, let's keep going. This is Rev. David Black, a Presbyterian minister, being attacked by cowards in masks while protesting political violence against immigrants in Chicago over the weekend.

Today's final approval of the North West Shelf is a climate, economic, and energy security disaster. Australia Institute analysis shows the 45-year expansion is equivalent to building 12 new coal power stations.
