Snapshots from my San Diego weekend! Only second time going to SD outside of Comic Con… so of course I went to the Comic Con museum! While there discovered that there was a da Vinci exhibit at the Air & Space museum, and when we returned for that we caught a free PotO concert on the outdoor organ 🎭

There were a lot of really beautiful, really insightful, and rightfully angry signs yesterday but I really enjoyed and saw a few variations of this sign. Kind of a two-for-one with promoting the endangered Monarch.

Posting fun things feels weird given the state of the world, but given the state of the world fun things help. D and I went to a 1920s fundraiser for Ainsley House in Campbell, the blue fabric of my dress and my shoes were thrift finds, and the grey came from our combined leftover stashes.

Went #nudibranch searching yesterday at #pleasurepoint in #santacruz and it’s fuuuull of #opalescentnudibranch right now! Some others I found in my replies, if I can get it to work this time.

I went to #Filoli for Dapper Days on Sunday, it was lovely! There was a live band and dancers, it made me want to find a place for swing dancing again. Outfit is 100% second hand, it’s a bit hard to tell but these shoes are a deep blue, they were a great find.

Went cherry picking today, soooo many cherries. So delicious.

Saw my first #threelinedaeolid in Santa Cruz on Sunday, the kiddo with his eyes spotted it and I finally managed to get a decent shot with my waterproof camera! #nudibranch

I missed the mantis hatching, had a couple of nights when I got home after dark so didn’t look. But! I’ve been looking for babies the last couple of days and yesterday was successful! This little mantis is on top of an undeveloped apricot that’s about 3-4cm. I’d say she came in at 0.25-0.5 cm.

Some #nudibranch from 04/05! The new to me ones were the Stubby Dendronotid (first one) and the Hammerhead Doto, which I haven’t included here because this little dude is the size of a grain of rice and my camera just isn’t that good. Other three are Hopkins Rose, San Diego Dorid, and Opalescent.

Some tidepooling today! Sea slugs soon, I need to review my photos, but it was a good day for nudibranch! 8 different species spotted, two of which were new to me.

Update on my praying mantis eggsac: no change 😂 I don’t think it’s been warm for enough days in a row yet. But I check it almost every day!

Bought these washi stickers at the Mitaka Ghibli museum and they were spendy so I only got the one set but having just put them up I wish I had like a million more 😍 I love these little guys sooooo much. #susuwatari #makurokurosuke #sootsprites

Feeding my trees today because I’m generally very rubbish at remembering to and !! I was like that’s neat what is it? INaturalist says it’s gonna be a praying mantis and I am stupid excited, will be looking at it every day 😂

Apricot is now going for it! But the peach is prettier ✨ Also went a little crazy and bought something like 100 daffodil bulbs a bit ago so as each comes up it’s a bit of a surprise, this guy doesn’t even look daffodil to me.

Okay I think these are the best yet from my waterproof camera. My 1st Black & White Dorid at Pescadero Point yesterday. I’d seen a lot of sightings for it recently on iNaturalist so was determined but man it was so hard to spot! I only did because it was riding the surface tension. I used some sea grass to flip it over so I could see it. #nudibranch #pescadero

I decided to take a four day weekend for my birthday and went tide pooling every day 😂 Still need to review photos but. Nothing like hanging out with the waves. My friends took me on a bioluminescent kayak tour at Moss Landing so we stayed overnight there, such a great weekend.

My dwarf white peach is the first to bloom this year! None of the others even look close except maybe the pluerry, and it hardly froze at all so it’s not looking great for the stone fruits.

I decided to try prioritizing my WIPs by how close they are to finishing, so I’m tackling this coat from 2010. This lining was already fully finished, 2010 me was so on top of things.

Omg. I have a whole host of pictures of Eomer interfering with my quilt making, back when I made more quilts, pretty much in this manner. So I made him a quilt like a crazy cat person. And he does not burrow in it at all. It was never about the quilt was it? It was about getting in the way 😩
