Just had a code red. Not only did we not get a warning because the PA system doesn't work in this building, a student talked and laughed the whole time. This is a 17 year old who couldn't fathom being quiet during an active shooter situation. Then gave me attitude for writing them up. Infuriating.

I recently heard that you can know everything there is to know about the mechanics of a broken leg. But if yours broke, it would hurt all the same. The same is true for anxiety and panic attacks. That helped me a lot since I know I shouldn't feel overwhelmed, but knowing rarely changes it.
