BEACH FORECAST: It's a great day to head to the beautiful beaches in our area. With winds coming from the east, the lake breeze is Chicago/Milwaukee's problem today, not ours. Expect similar temperatures at the beaches compared to inland areas (just a hair cooler -- nothing crazy).

NO RAIN: The pattern we had to kick off spring is long gone. The upcoming 10 days look QUITE dry. No issues right now, but if this pattern persists into mid-June, we certainly are going to dealing with drought issues.

Watching the clouds SLOWLY erode west to east. Much of NW Indiana is seeing lots of sunshine, while the heart of Michiana is still on the very tail end of the cloud deck. We will continue to see less and less clouds as we move into the late afternoon/early evening hours.

2:15p EDT: If you're looking for more sunshine, it's in the near future! Clouds & rain are moving away... and sunshine to our west is moving in! The clear sky will allow temperatures to rapidly fall into the lower 40s tonight (NO frost risk).

10a MON update: Here are the t'storms that will impact our area later today. Timing still appears to be around 2p(ish). As these push east into our area, they'll run into a more favorable environment to produce some brief gusty wind ahead of the line.

Heading to the backyard tonight for some s'mores? I'd say it's looking pretty nice! Temperatures in the 60s. It'll be a bit breezy, so keep an eye on any of the embers. However... overall, pretty decent night for a bon fire. :)

Overall, not a bad early/mid-May forecast, in my opinion! I know gardeners are sick and tired of the "F" word... but be cautious planting sensitive vegetation for another week or so. Or, just be diligent about covering them.

FEW RAIN SHOWERS: Tonight ahead of a cold front, expect some light rain (less than 1/4"). This cold front will reinforce the chilly air for tomorrow through the weekend.

Good morning, everyone. Happy Wednesday! We'll start the day with some clouds and patchy fog, but will end it with some blue sky and sunshine. Temperatures remain below normal for late April, with highs in the middle 50s (average is lower/middle 60s).

Overall, it's a nice 7-day forecast!! We have a few showers/storms Tuesday PM, but look at the warm air surge back in. Highs are in the 60s and 70s the entirety of my forecast, with a good amount of sunshine in there as well. What do you think?? I'm pretty happy. :)

FRIDAY EVENING UPDATE: Rain will develop in Illinois and push our way, pathing the path for a steady overnight rain lasting into Saturday midday/afternoon. Severe weather threat locally is near zero... not worried about that.

5:45p EDT: Two lone warnings out there, impacting my Northern Indiana followers. There is some hail with this, likely no larger than the size of a quarter. Also some wind up to 60mph, but it does appear that is very isolated.

MICHIGAN TORNADO DRILL: As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week in Michigan, many tornado sirens will sound at 1pm today. No severe weather (woo hoo!!), but it's a good time to review what your plan would be when it happens again. This is ONLY Michigan.

Good morning, everyone! It's a cold, winter-like morning with temperatures in the upper teens and lower 20s. We'll see some light snow today (1" or so) as a little clipper system moves through. This should get out of here shortly after lunch.

WINTER RETURNS 11:15p EDT: Rain tapering off in the next 1hr... and focus now turns to sharply colder air moving in right now. In fact, lake effect snow looks likely Monday PM - Tuesday PM. Some areas under the snow bands will pick up several inches of snow by Tuesday midday.

9:45p EDT: Hey, everyone! I still think the severe threat remains very low. I wouldn't be surprised if NWS cancels the Severe T'storm Watch several hours early, given how most of this is just moderate rain with some lightning.

SEVERE T'STORM WATCH: Our entire area has been placed under a severe t'storm watch until 2a EDT. Gusty winds along the leading edge of the storms are the primary threat. Remember, a WATCH means we are watching (taco ingredients on the table). A WARNING means to take shelter (the taco is ready!).

SEVERE T'STORM WATCH LIKELY: The area I highlighted in yellow will likely have a Severe T'Storm WATCH issued here in the coming 30-60min. The line of storms in IL will move our way, with the threat of gusty winds along it.

Latest data coming in on the mid-March blizzard to our north, and some of these numbers are absolutely crazy. 30-40"+ of snow will accumulate in Northern Wisconsin & Michigan. Michigan's UP will be the "winner" with 40"+. Factor in 40+mph winds, and you'll have a textbook blizzard!

All over the place the next few days! At least we have a quiet Saturday to enjoy any St. Patrick's festivities.
