To me, Disability Pride means being proud that I'm living through my conditions w/o sweeping them under the rug, and that I'm enjoying life in unique ways that abled folks typically don't comprehend. #SpoonieAuthChat

Disability pride means supporting my community however I can. It means celebrating the beauty in disabled narratives and never hiding my love for my fellow disabled community members. This is mostly done irl for me as I'm blessed to know so many incredible disabled artists in my hometown.

#SpoonieAuthChat to me, it means supporting disabled queer folks, and advocating for them. And not just during this month, but all the time. And for me, this year, it's kind of figuring out where I sit in all of this (for myself). But for advocating for human rights, I always know where I stand.

For me, Disability Pride is about accepting and being kind to my bodymind despite its sometimes unpleasant quirks, being proud of myself for navigating a world not built for people like me, and being in community with other amazing disabled folks #SpoonieAuthChat

Ren is the most visibly disabled of my characters. She leans on cane, as a result of the weakness and pain caused by her visions. She smokes alchemical medical cigarettes to alleviate symptons. She also suffers from ptsd due to childhood trauma, & is a *functional* alcoholic as a coping mechanism.

It might feel like the only way anyone is ever going to read your work. It’s not.

#spoonieAuthChat The final outcome? I don't think so, it's generally what comes to me first. How to get to there changes drastically, however - new characters, additional info and deeper worldbuilding invited themselves on the way to get there and they want their cut or else.

I regularly rewind part of a scene when I get stuck, throw the old version in a doc, and potentially never look at it again. Sometimes, it's because I was going in a direction that I really liked, or had dialogue in it that I really loved, but it just didn't work for the story. #SpoonieAuthChat
