Writing flash made me a much better overall writer. I learned to eliminate unnecessary words. Tighten up my descriptions. And understand how to narrow down a story arc. Definitely recommend everyone give it a try. #SpoonieAuthChat

It has! Having to adhere to a shorter word count prompted me to yeet unnecessary words and choose other words, so my writing felt crisper. Doing this enough transferred over into writing books. I find the first drafts of my chapters read a lot better and need fewer rewrites! #SpoonieAuthChat

A "flavor text" intro to a role-playing game chapter. Just a couple paragraphs. More recently, a novella. The biggest reader critique was that it was too short, and I'm like: "I know, right?!" I want to turn everything into a multi-book series. 😂 #SpoonieAuthChat

Thirteen words. It was a competition where the only restriction was it had to be a story told in exactly thirteen words. There was one winner and a couple of runner-ups. I was one of the runner-ups and absolutely thrilled to see my words in print. #SpoonieAuthChat

Including the title, 250 words! It was for a microfiction anthology where we had to use stars in the work (not celebrities but celestial bodies), and my story is called With My Kind. You can now find it reprinted in my Speculative Shorts collection! #SpoonieAuthChat

I have too many ideas and not enough time. It allows me to actually do something with those ideas, even if it’s small. #spoonieauthchat

You can use ideas that wouldn't work for a long format, plus it's a lot less to keep track of when it's short. For me, it's like the difference between making a delicious sandwich versus cooking a four-course meal. #BookSky #WritingCommunity #SpoonieAuthChat
