I want one thing from this fall’s revival of Chess and one thing only: reinstate that glorious key change in “Someone Else’s Story”.

Happy first anniversary - coincidentally, also the first anniversary of The Broadway Fan Club (who are not, unfortunately, on BlueSky. Yet.) The merch table calls that t-shirt "the Tour Shirt". I wish it were a mock up of a Gil Brently tour tee from 1948 with the Amsterdam date.

Hmm... we still don't have Best Ensemble or Best Music Supervision/Direction, but maybe it's also time to look at "Best Comedy" AND "Best Drama". I know. I KNOW! But how the heck do you compare "Oh, Mary!" with ANYTHING else? Last time I can remember anything this riotous was Noises Off.

Hard to believe it's been a year already. Broadway Jeopardy quickly became an institution in our house - our Thursday "must see" TV. Congratulations on the series, but more, thank you for creating one of our favourite things (along with the ... well, you know. They're wrapped up in strings.)

I will not be the tiniest bit angry if, when Cole Escola wins his Best Actor in a Play Tony, his acceptance speech is a Madcap Medley.

Got back from NYC last evening - I didn't get to wish @bwayghostlight.bsky.social congrats in person, but at least I got to enjoy the gala 50th episode with a surprise clue from one of my favourite NYC people (whom I also missed seeing this week). Here's to the next 50! :)

Tomorrow we get the Tony Nominations at 9am and Broadway Jeopardy at 5pm. I can't wait to see how well @bwayghostlight.bsky.social has predicted the nominees in the various categories. ;D

It's Tony season, I warned you these posts were coming. 😃 This one is for my theatre professionals: What got you into theatre as a profession? What were/are your goals? What keeps you doing it?

Every time "Tell Me, Ernest" comes up on my iTunes, I start singing "Come to the Fun Home". I mean, we ALL do that, right? Right?

1. Create *something* that provides even a small trickle of residual income. 2. Do those "passion projects" I've "never gotten around to doing." 3. Reconnect with my passion - the reasons I went into doing what I do. 4. Carefully cultivate my theatrical "Algonquin Round Table" (in lieu of therapy.)

When do we get a Broadway Theme Park? Not real Broadway - just a place to spend a day around themed Broadway "lands" and see a revue or two and enjoy fun Broadway-themed food and beverage?

I miss the days when friends would come over for wine & cheese and sing show tunes at the piano.

I really enjoyed Taboo on Broadway. Never got to see it in London, and I understand it changed a LOT between those two runs, but I wonder - if it had opened downtown in an old night club or something, rather than trying to "get along" with Broadway, would it have run a lot longer?

There are Musical Theatre You-Tubers whose content I find interesting and often informative, but only one who I feel actually engages with followers (or at least, me) and that's why I subscribe, like, and support this person on Patreon. He knows who he is. I wish more creators were like him.

If I ever win the lottery, I'm going to use that money to help produce new musicals. I mean, that's what we'd all do, right? Right?

I know it's been a crowded few seasons for musicals, but I'm still waiting for Sing Street to finally show up. I'm ready for Sing Street to finally show up. I NEED Sing Street to finally show up.

Is it just me or are this season’s new musicals terribly slow to release their full Cast Albums?

When I was a student, I was blessed with a teacher who, when I wasn't into playing the actual lesson, would ask what I DID want to play, and would turn that into a lesson. She was brilliant. As an adult theatre musician, how I wish I could just play the music I WANT to, instead of what I HAVE to.

If you are a working/professional actor, the cost of sheet music for your auditions, etc. is a legitimate business expense. Stop pirating your music from dodgy online sources.

I always want to comment with "I thought for sure you'd have THIS (person or musical) in the category!" but I never want to spoil the game for those who haven't played yet. But I have thoughts about last night's game. ;D

I have a love-hate relationship with star casting, particularly the audience reaction when a star is out. I know - you paid to see SUTTON FOSTER - we all did - but what a treat it was to see Kara Lindsay as Winnifred!

Time to migrate most of my postings to this site so I can stop doomscrolling the book of face. Expect many random thoughts about Musical Theatre, Eurovision, and more. Not expecting much in the way of engagement (yet?) - I just want to get this established.

The highlight of my week is Broadway Jeopardy. The best part is my husband's glee when we get to the $1K round and he feels doomed, yet he always - ALWAYS - gets at least one or two because those end up being about the shows he's heard of. :)
