Anyone else's puppy like to stop during walks and just wiggle on the ground? No, only mine? 🤣

I might get a doggy DNA test for Bodhi. The humane society listed him as a pit mix. But I don't know what he's mixed with. Sometimes he looks a little Weimaraner to me, but I could be way off. My last dog was a lab / pit. That's super common, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was part lab.

Our calico cat claimed the dog bed, and our pit bull puppy just let her have it ❤️

At the park this morning, an older lady stopped to play with Bodhi. She asked what his name was and when I told her, she said, "Bodhi? Is it short for something, like a nickname?" So, I told her Bodhi was short for Bodacious ❤️

Como Lake with Bodhi. He's getting better at walking on leash. But at 4.5 months old, he's still full of puppy energy. The walking path here is 1.6 miles long, which is a great way for him to walk off some energy, and meet lots of new people & dogs.

My car was getting close to a quarter tank of gas, so I filled up today. It was ~$36. I last filled up on March 24th. So, a tank of gas lasted almost 6 weeks. Luckily, I walk, bike & bus some of my errands, which helps reduce gas expenses, so I don't need to fill up as often.

I love my neighbors. Btw, I don't speak Spanish. I know a little but rarely use it. Me this morning when my elderly Mexican neighbor stopped to pet my puppy: "His nombre es Bodhi. He is cuatro meses y medio old". I know it's bad, broken Spanish but I tried. And she seemed to understand. ❤️

Just a friendly Minnesotan reminder: we have an awesome network of bike paths, and public transit options. If you have a bike or nearby bus stop, you have options. If you substitute some car errands with a bike or bus, it'll reduce the overall costs of filling up your gas tank.

We've taken the puppy to this small park a few times and he's starting to explore more. I think I'll make this part of our daily routine. It's a nice little park with families & kids nearby, so it's great for socializing.

I love my neighbors but having a puppy is like having a baby. Most neighbors are great & supportive, but a few have strong opinions about what I "should" be doing. I've only had my 4 month old puppy for a week. We have not gone to the off leash dog park yet, because he's just not ready yet.

The Gateway is a little damp from the rain this morning, but it's a beautiful day for a bike ride. 🚲❤️

At 4 months old, Bodhi is still learning to walk on leash. This small park is quieter than Como, and he seems to enjoy it more. It's a mile from our house. I drove here today. Soon, he'll be able to walk here every day, the way my previous dogs did. ❤️

Yesterday, I accidentally called my puppy "Boujee" instead of "Bodhi", and now I can't go back 🤣

New payment policy sign at my veterinarian's office. I pay for most things with cash / debit, so it really doesn't affect us. But I am starting to see more signs like this one popping up.

We live about a mile & a half from Lake Como. When the puppy is older, we'll be able to walk there. We drove to the lake yesterday. I suppose I could get a bike trailer for my hybrid bike but I don't trust towing him behind me, out of sight. I wonder if a cargo bike is a good option.

Bodhi ❤️ How we landed on this name: His name at the humane society was Loki. In the marvel universe, Loki's brother is Thor. Also, Ironman's nickname for Thor is "Point Break". In the movie "Point Break", Patrick Swayze's character is Bodhi.

Took the puppy for a walk through the nearby nature reserve. ❤️ We still don't have a name. I've been calling him Bub (the way Wolverine calls people Bub) & Bruno.

I was hungry so I walked to the nearby Asian market. $36.14 later, I came home with enough prepared food for multiple meals for me & my daughter. The kapoon noodle soup kit ($6.99, bottom right corner of the first photo) alone is enough for two bowls. Love St Paul Asian markets!

Express Bike Shop in St Paul is an awesome place! Great people, great bikes, great overall vibes. I bought my Miyata road bike there, and lots of random bike accessories over the years.

I spent all day in a work conference, sitting behind a desk. As soon as I got home and ate dinner, I went out for a walk. It feels good to get some fresh air. ☀️

I started cycling when I turned 40, after not riding a bike in 20+ years. I feel more like my teenage self. I'm more active, healthier, happier. I've rediscovered my community. I've explored bike trails & parts of my city that I never knew were there, all by bike. I absolutely love it. ❤️

Love this! Also, she appears to be carrying TWO Kryptonite bike u locks and a Kryptonite chain lock. Perfect! You gotta have good bike locks.

$965/ month to own & operate a new car is absolutely insane. In contrast, my household has one used car (2021), two bicycles and two bus passes. We also occasionally Uber. Our combined transportation costs for two adults is under $200/ month, including car insurance.
