I am currently about 280 pages into book two in my series. My goal is to break 300 by Sunday. Pretty sure I'll write more than that. This one is going by very quickly - I'll have plenty time to several runs of edits and limit the number of post-publication typos I am sure I will find. #booksky

Been making good progress on the second book in my series. Probably the biggest worry was figuring out the cover, but today I managed to put something together that I am pretty happy with. Just need to flesh it out some... and finish writing. #booksky

Chapter 6 of book 2 is written, so it's around a third of the way done. I'm trying to limit myself to no more than 3 months between releases, was going to *start* this one tomorrow. That puts me, including the cover and editing, about 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule. #booksky #fantasybooks #writing

#booksky 1. Publishing on Amazon has been a learning experience. The first thing I noticed is the cover came in more purple than blue - which is not a huge deal. The next issue is that the hardcover print margins were wrong - and on all my proofs, not just one, so it wasn't a misprint. -->

#booksky Kinda wondering now that my book is done - how many folks design their own covers? I'm not, by any stretch of the imagination, an artist, so mine was... stressful to figure out on my own - although I feel like I can make something that doesn't suck now.

#booksky I've got a lot of unaccomplished life goals, but here's one I can scratch off that list. Finally published my first book, and I'm actually pretty happy with the way it turned out, after I finally have a draft copy in hand. Now I've just got to write the next six (book 2 is at ~10%).

My wife was trying to think of a word for a post event gathering, and since a reception is more of an opening thing, the first word that jumped into her head was... deception. So, that's a thing now.

I wonder how often politicians don't change a stance because they don't want to be seen as flip-flopping on an issue. I imagine it is more common after they have already flipped once. How much more might we respect one who, following public outcry, says instead, "I hear you, and respect your will"?

We will never turn this country around until we realize that we should always choose the lesser of two evils when they are the only two choices. Change is a process, accomplished one step at a time, and this is how we gradually move the bar further from choices which are evil in the first place.

In my next life, I hope it is legal to hunt evil with a sword.

I did my 20. I thought about getting out during his last run; it's hard to spend 4 years being ashamed of your service. These days I find myself feeling ashamed of my nation. Voter suppression may have had some impact, but in the end, we did this to ourselves.

The thing to remember about the conservative push to end DEI is that doing so will cause all the things they claim to be trying to solve by ending it - and they know it. They aren't interested in a level playing field.
