Thirty years ago today I was in Kent with my daughter taking the final pic for my first grounds book. My eldest daughter took these pics the same day at Wembley watching @boltonwanderers.bsky.social with my wife. Dunno who the guy is; love his reaction to the big win.

Remember Leitch crush barriers? Last ones I saw were at Chesterfield in a corner not redeveloped. I mentioned them being worthy of a museum to Simon Inglis. He saved one for Manchester and another for Glasgow. Ten years ago I just had to take a lean!

So it can be done! Why can other clubs not follow this lead and create a proper stand at height even if based on these dreadful metal seating units? Well done Morriston, always had a soft spot as a mate played for you circa 1976!

The old Crystal Palace Cup Final ground is well known, built in a former decorative fountain. The second fountain was home to a velodrome. Around Easter 1995 I took one last photo at New Romney then started tracing maps for a small, home-assembled photocopied publication on football grounds in Kent. A friend called to tell me about a similar but more ambitious mag that he bought on the Northern Hop, the first GT! www.groundtastic.co.uk

Cropped, new book coming soon. Here are two images from Erith & Belvedere after the fire, one cropped to 46% and the other 54% of the originals, the smaller pics. The 6x4 prints were fine but the sky and foreground can go so the eye now focuses on what’s important in the photos.

For those who have helped me over the past 30 years and those who have bought books from me here’s a preview of Cropped, the book I’m now working on. Grounds don’t always lend themselves to a standard 6x4 print so here are carefully cropped pics which aim to draw the eye into and around the image.

It’s #FloodlightFriday at Tooting & Mitcham back in 1996, pushing the limits with old-school 200 ASA film.

Here’s the set of action photos I mentioned of Crockenhill beating Dartford in 1993. Same league then, six between the clubs now. We played Darts four times before their promotion and won two of the games!

Look which pics I just found… and somehow the Kent County League found that one branch of their league had a division three so popped Maidstone Invicta there as a new club while the reformed Dartford got a Kent League spot. Will have to find the action pics of Crocks beating Darts in Sept 1994!
