Good evening #socialwork colleagues. Thinking about taking up a bit of blogging again. Lots happening in the world of social work so lots to say; undecided if I definitely want to do this. But if I do, what’s the best platform these days?

In Ep. 142 @annamueller.bsky.social highlights three social roots of youth suicide - academic pressure, mental health stigma, and (perhaps surprisingly) social connectedness. We talk about these systemic challenges and what we can do about them in schools. cc: @sethabrutyn.bsky.social

Fantastic to judge our locality 3&4 giant Christmas card competition. It has been a tough year for them, having to unexpectedly move offices and currently being housed temporarily. But they did a great job thanks to our family hubs lending them a sports hall for festive fun.

This is an absolutely fascinating read for anyone interested or advocating for CYP mental health. Suicide consistently remains one of the top 3 killers of children and young people aged 5-18 alongside cars and cancer. Let that sink in. Then read this. #KidsMH @cypmentalhealth.bsky.social
