You Should Be Excited About The Pirates' Pitching Staff In 2026
I hate watching quality pitching go to waste.

I think whoever takes over the Rockies' front office (any takers?), they won't have to immediately worry about a lack of velocity to utilize, to mold. But they have to find a way to generate strikeouts even to consider any modest improvement, plain and simple.

I am curious to see what Chaim Bloom does for the Cardinals in terms of pitching development in the coming years. The organization has lagged in various respects dating back to 2021.

Before his TJ in 2023, Luis Garcia upped his cutter usage to 43.2%, with a 41.9% whiff rate. It was nice seeing that pitch in his return to ML action.

Loved MacKenzie Goreās curveball to strike out Tommy Edman looking. 56 inches of vertical break right on the outside corner. A gnarly pitch.

I laughed out loud at first, but then I looked at Corbin's splits from last season... 2024 1st half (105 IP): 15.9% K%, 7.8% BB%, 4.72 FIP, 4.47 xFIP 2024 2nd half (69 2/3 IP): 21.6% K%, 5.9% BB%, 3.96 FIP, 3.63 xFIP Yeah, he's probably worth a flyer considering the Rangers' needs at the moment.

Griffin Canning, 16 strikeouts in 10 innings. Only Spring Training, yes, but he's got my attention. This is also why I desperately want someone to trade for Reid Detmers.

Fernando Cruz is 34 and hasnāt had much success, but that splitter (38.1 inch vertical drop, 59.3% Whiff%) can certainly play. Just watch him succeed with the Yankees now.
